Greytown win 2026 Capital Premier title

Greytown always looked likely to be at the top end of the Capital Premier league table this year and they confirmed their dominance with a decisive 6-0 win over Wellington Marist on Saturday. After beating their two main rivals, Wellington Phoenix U18’s and Wellington Olympic Reserves in recent weeks, Greytown finished the year three points clear of the Phoenix with the very good figures of sixteen wins, one draw and one loss from their eighteen games.

On top of those statistics, three of the team featured in the league’s top scorers table. Matt Tod-Smith won the golden boot with 23 goals, four more than the second-placed player. Team captain Jarrod MacDonald was in third place with 18 goals and Daniel MacLennan finished 5th with 10 goals.

It was a perfect finish for Phil Keinsley in his 100th game as Greytown coach. During his tenure the club has steadily progressed from Wairarapa League champions, through the four Wellington Capital Leagues, and now won the Wellington Capital Premier League to earn promotion into Central 2.
